Charitable GivingA major aspect of the work of any livery company is that of supporting those in time of need. The Honourable Company provides support to seafarers, wives, widows and children during difficult times as well as providing funds for the education and training of the seafarers. In addition the Honourable Company administers the Wellington Trust, the objectives of which are the conservation and preservation of the Wellington, the last serving member of the Grimsby Class sloops.

Objectives and Activities
The objectives and activities of the Benevolent Fund are to provide assistance and relief to British Master Mariners and their wives, widows, children or other dependents who are in necessitous circumstances. The benevolent fund was established under a Trust Deed dated 14th April 1934.

Objectives and Activities
The objectives and aims of the London Maritime Institution are to provide relief generally or individually to, firstly, Master Mariners and their dependents and, secondly, to Navigating Officers of the British Merchant Navy and their dependents, who are in a condition of need, hardship and distress.
The London Maritime Institution was established under a scheme dated 16th July 1886, and amended in 1948 and 1990. The scheme was transferred from the Royal Alfred Seafarers Society to the Honourable Company of master Mariners in 1947.

The objectives and aims of the Howard Leopold Davis Fund are to provide relief to certified British navigating officers of the Merchant Navy, and their wives, widows, children or other dependents who are in necessitous circumstances, and who have not been in permanent command.
The Howard Leopold Davis Fund was established by T.B.F. David, Master Mariner, in memory of his son Howard Leopold Davis, under deed of trust dated 16th October 1934.

The objective of the Wellington Trust is the conservation and preservation of the sloop HQS Wellington as part of the nation’s maritime heritage, the education of the public on the history of the British Merchant Navy and the importance of seaborne trade to our island nation.
The Wellington Trust was incorporated in 2005, as a company limited by guarantee and is a registered charity.
